It's been a little while since I last posted and Holly and I are now in Chile. We took a 12 hour bus from BA to a lovely town called Mendoza near the border with Chile - Mendoza was beautiful but unbelievably hot day and night! We stayed in the cheapest hostel in town which didn't even have a fan so we wrapped wet towels around us at night to try and keep cool - it was hilarious and I'm quite re eaves the temperature drops at night in the Sahara! Anyway Mendoza was lovely and as well as training in 37 degree heat we went on a great cycle tour of the nearby wineries and picked up a bottle of 2004 Melbec of which only 5000 bottles were produced, each one labelled and signed! After a great couple of days in Mendoza we took the bus to Santiago in Chile and through a very dodgy border crossing at 3 in the morning! I had forgotten the joys of backpacking! After spending the day in Santiago we prepared for our second night in a row on a bus and made our way down to pucon in the an adventure town in Patagonia, it's a lovely little town with log cabins and spectacular views of nearby volcanoes! It's still boiling hot here so my training has been going well and we've also been doing some yoga and meditation - I find yoga really helps loosen my muscles and it's something I'm definitely going to carry on when back in London as preparation for the MDS! I also heard from Research Now magazine that they will be running an article on my race inMarch which is really exciting! quite tired today after a long run but were going to some natural hot springs tonight with a few beers to chill out. Will keep this blog updated with my training progress throughout the week.
