Welcome and thanks for visiting my site, your support is greatly appreciated. My name is John Gunn and this website will cover my attempt to run the Marathon Des Sables in April 2012.
I have developed this site to build awareness of the race and to document my progress over the next four months. Getting to Africa is a challenge in itself, with an immense amount of training to be done and sponsorship to be raised over the coming weeks.
Please read my blog, where you can keep up to date with all my preparations for the race, including my training schedules, details of fundraising events and my progress sourcing some of the more bizarre pieces of required kit (for example the Anti-venom snakebite kit)!
Most importantly I am running the Marathon Des Sables in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research, a fantastic charity that does so much to help people in the UK who are living with cancer. I am committed to raising as much money as possible for this great charity and I would be extremely grateful if you could sponsor me on the Justgiving link on the right. I am hoping to raise £10,000 for Yorkshire Cancer Research and even the smallest donation will go a long way to helping me achieve this.
